SHORT-DEADLINE EVENTS
FOR THE WEEK OF JULY 23 TO JULY 27, 2008
FEATURE ARTICLE:
SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS – The summer is flying by and we are busy preparing for our 2008-2009 Sunday School Year! Sunday School classes will begin on September 7th and we are extremely pleased that we have so many teachers returning from last year. There will be one or two teaching positions that need to be filled, and we always need substitutes, so please consider this need and contact Laurie Kruithof or Adriene Davis if you are interested. The Safe Sanctuary Policy and applications are available in the Sunday School Office as well. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful, dedicated staff to teach our children, youth and adults here at Mantua United Methodist Church. Our children’s curriculum has transitioned to Rock Solid, an exciting curriculum built on a Rock Solid foundation of faith. Our youngest classes are booming with students again this year; we anticipate twenty or more in the pre-K class and approximately 16 in the 1st/2nd grade class! And for those 3rd through 8th graders that did not participate in the Bible Book Challenge in the spring, but would like to in the fall, get ready! It’s the Year of the Bible and we offer our youth the opportunity to learn the books of the Bible and recite them at a Church service. Trophies will be awarded to all 3rd through 8th graders who successfully learn the books of the Bible! If you currently do not attend a Sunday School class, but would like to find out what classes we have for adults and/or children, please see Laurie or Adriene and we’d be happy to assist. All are welcome and encouraged to participate in our Sunday School Program. We look forward to a great 2008-2009 Sunday School Year!
In God’s Love, Laurie Kruithof & Adriene Davis

LOOKING AHEAD:
GOT CANS? On Communion Sunday (August 3), canned goods and other non-perishable foods are received for our Corinthian Cupboard (food pantry) ministry. You may leave your donations in the vestibule when you come to church. Please be sure that the expiration dates have not come and gone! Remember the “four C=s” equation: “Communion + Canned goods = Corinthian Cupboard.” Thanks for remembering those in need with “extravagant generosity.” The August Communion offering has been designated for the United Methodist Committee on Relief ministry to victims of the Spring time flooding in the United States (check out the news story). 100% of what we give will go to this relief effort.
JUNIOR STARLITERS ARE AT IT AGAIN!! THE GREAT GHOST CHASE
Show time – August 7 & 8, 7:30PM; August 9, 11:00AM (please note time change). Come join the cast (children from our church family) and crew (our own Amy Stanton, director) and others for an exciting eerie chase around town for a special ghost!
