Subject: Year of the Bible
Here's your opportunity to discuss thoughts and ask questions on the daily readings in the Year of the Bible. My suggestion is to type the day of the reading and the verse numbers that you have thoughts or questions on. This is to encourage others to look up the passages as well. Oh yeah, www.Gateway.com is an incredible resource. Not only does it have various translations but it has commentaries as well.

Regarding the readings in Judges . . .

Is it just me, or do you get the feeling that God is an Indiana Jones fan?

Hi Michelle, our Sunday School class did a study on Judges a couple of years ago. As you read the narative you begin to get a sense of societal breakdown and anarchy. Several times in the last chapters this same sentence appears; "In those days there was no king in Isreal and everyman did what was right in his own eyes." As a matter of fact it is the final verse of the book. Actually God was to be their king but He was rejected. They had gone after idols and the Gods of the people who were among them. It's a warning to us as well because it's easy to fall into comfortable patterns and traditions of religiosity rather than truly leaning on God.

As for God being a fan of Indiana Jones, I guess he could be. I'm fascinated with archaeology and the stories that are unearthed. It seems that the more they dig in the Holy Land the more the Bible is confirmed.

I'm sorry that it took me so long to respond but my name is on the posts too much. I was hoping that someone else would post a few times. You guys are doing a great job with the site and I appreciate all the effort that you are putting forth.

As I've been following the YOTB plan something keeps jumping off the page at me. Just about every week God tells His people to go. It's becoming evident that the life of the disciple isn't a static one but a life of activity.

Faith isn't about remembering all the great moments of our journey but it is about moving out in faith and being a part of the great moments that God has already laid before us.

So what about this rest that God has promised? I think that it has nothing to do with leasure but everything to do with God's will. Here's the secret; rather than working for God we should be working with God.

Excellent point my friend. We all know that the First words and last words that a person speaks are usually the most memorable... OK then..

What were Jesus's final words before he assended?

Matthew 28:19(a)
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations...

John 21:19(b) ...Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, "Follow me!"

You and I have have many spirited discussions over the years my brother, but the one thing on which we both agree is you can't take a faith journey by standing still!
