Hey Fritz.
It's amazing to me the different emotions I go thru when I think about this transition. It's almost like the 7 stages of grief, with a few extra positive emotions mixed in. In short, I hate to see him go, dislike why he feels he should, support his decision 100%, and am very much looking forward to working with pastor Doug.
I already made some initial contact with Doug on behalf of the Web, System Administrator, and MTV teams. There's much more to do mind you, but I wanted to make sure that we gave him some initial information before he came on board.
I'll list some of the information here in the hopes that it helps others think about their teams and the role the Pastor plays on them. It's amazing the things we take for granite until we think thru step by step the things that we do.
From my perspective, we need to make Doug aware of:
* The procedures that we have in place for getting information on the screens.
* The capacity and features of the projector system. What we can and can not do.
* The computer systems we currently have in place
* The abilities of the computers, printers, scanners, etc
* Features we have on the web (especially the ones Karl's been responsible for
* Our vision of the future
I would like the opportunity to meet with Pastor Doug sometime before he starts to introduce myself and discuss the teams of which I am a member. I want him to feel comfortable in his new position and make sure that I can do whatever is needed to help with his transition. Perhaps a day or two of meetings for Doug where he can meet one on one with the Team Captains. That way he can get a personalized session without being overwhelmed with information. Just a suggestion.
I would also highly recommend a Bar-b-q or other such dinner sometime in June, so the entire congregation will get a chance to meet Pastor Doug and his family. It would also be a great time to have one last group dinner with the Kraft Family
