Hey all you geeks out there. You know what I'd like to hear? Your thoughts on how technology can be used to expand the Kingdom of God. How the Gospel of Jesus Christ can be furthered using various technologies. Computers, internet or whatever. Here's your place to expound on these issues.

Hey Greg,

I came across this product. I would imagine there are similar and less expensive products available. Maybe you could check it out? Not sure what our church's needs and wants are, but perhaps it could be helpful.

Also, every once it awhile it might be a good idea to encourage the church family to log onto this website. Perhaps mention it during the services and various church meetings? I believe people want to be heard and want to get involved. This website alone could be an awesome tool! Honestly, I tend to forget about it. I would appreciate a gentle reminder every so often!!

Could we put a poll on the front page? Do you know what I mean -- the kind where you read a question, click on one of the answers, and get an instantaneous graph display of results? If I am not being clear, I can show you an example. It would be a neat (and anonymous) way for the family to express their opinions.

Additionally, how about getting the youth involved in this? Who knows technology better than our children?!! Also, let's face it, they have so much energy, creativity, and FREE TIME!

One more thing, how about a family movie night once in awhile? Do we have a large projector screen? Encourage the various generations to gather together, invite friends/neighbors, eat some popcorn, and watch a short video/movie? I am talking a 45-60 minute video/movie and a time for fellowship and discussion after.

What technology do we currently have available for use? Thanks!

God bless brother!

Hi Laurie,
Finally! Some one other than myself has posted in the Forum.

Not being a part of the webteam, I'm not really sure what technology we have at our disposal. The good news is that the webteam seems to be open to using the technology on hand to advance the Kingdom. The Podcasts are an example of that. The team has shown that they are willing to try new things and I think it's exciting.

I hope the the website will become a destination, rather than an advertisement and I believe that it's starting to happen. A place where folks can go and get resources and information, as well as share their faith experiences/stories, insight and even encourage a fellow believer or some strangers who just happen to find themselves on the site.

A movie night sounds like fun. I would participate. It would be nice if the church opened up more opportunities to fellowship together. There's always the possibility of just getting together with a small group as well.

Peace!

Dear Greg,

Hey brother! LOVE the idea of sharing faith stories/experiences on this site! Also, I was talking to Fritz today and I mentioned creating a page on this site with the names and pictures of people on various committees, ect. I know that when I first started to attend church, announcements would be make like say... "See Jody Miller for more information." Well, I couldn't put a face to that name; therefore, shy as I am I didn't persue some things that I wanted to follow up on! I secretly wished (lol) that there was a reference for me... a bulletin board, webpage, ect. Fritz says there is a book somewhere but (a) where is it? and (b) is it really up to date?

So anyway, just another thought.

Oh OH! Wait! One more thing... Any chance that we will ever get to sample some praise band music on this site?

Peace! LL

Maybe it is time for a new pictorial directory. There are some now that you can do yourself on line with a digital camera. It kind of eliminates the pressure to buy your picutres. With the techno. whizzes we have it shouldn't be a problem.

Fellowship--I'm all for it. I hope the Nurture team plans some things. A movie night would be great. Now that we have a children's coordinator (Kim Wagner) we will have opportunities for children and their families. She has already planned a "PJ" party for January 3 and something for Valentine's in February.

I would love the youth to be involved technologically as well. Chris Grabert has expressed and interest in doing a newsletter or announcement type thing.
